JSC “Ventbunkers” has transshipped 2.44 million tonnes that is noticeably more comparing to 2.3 million tonnes transshipped in 2011 in total. Compared with the same period of the last year, the company has increased the trasshipment volume by 32%.
In October, the company has transshipped almost 200 tonnes of oil products, and this month was remarkably successful in trasshipment of dark oil products. The transshipment of dark oil products has increased by 61% in the 10 months of the year 2012.
The Chairman of the Council of JSC “Ventbunkers” Olafs Berķis points out that this year the company has considerably improved its performance indices; however, the company still has a great potential for growth. We have to operate in conditions of fierce competition, competing both with port terminals of our neighbour countries –LithuaniaandEstonia, and withRussia’s port terminals. We put hopes on recentRussia’s joining to the World Trade Organization that could makeLatvia’s port terminals and whole transit passage more attractive to our partners fromRussia.
“Alongside with work on existing client service and attraction of new clients, we are seeking for possibilities to increase ecological safety of the company. Currently together with the ““Ventspils nafta” terminals” Ltd. we are actively discussing the construction of equipment for oil products’ steam collection and utilization,” points out the Chairman of the Council of “Ventbunkers”.
The joint stock company “Ventbunkers” was founded in 1994 and operates in the Ventspils Free Port area. Company ensures receiving of oil products by rail tank-cars. Total transhipment capacity of JSC “Ventbunkers” is 7 million tonnes per year.
